20th January, 2007 – Back at Stob Coire Nan Lochan (Glen Coe)

Again the avalanche forecast was high and the mild seeming weather, based on rain at the bottom, made a group of us decide to just go up for a walk rather than a climb. This was great as much weight was left behind and for me at least comfier boots got to be worn too so a much more effortless day was had by me this time. Overall the day was drier than the previous Saturday as the rain soon turned to snow higher up and stopped before we descended. We followed exactly the same route but this time our descent from the ridge down Easy Gully required a bit more adventure getting over the new cornice edge and there was a bit more interest on ascending the ridge as the rock was much more iced up and a route higher up on the exposed ridge was required to avoid large bankings of soft snow.

Another great day out in the hills and some good views on occasion too.
