27th January, 2007 – Stob Coire Easain and Stob A’ Choire Mheadhoin

Saturday January 27th – Stob Coire Easain and Stob A’ Choire Mheadhoin

Despite getting up early, we had a good long sleep having gone to sleep at around 8pm the night before. In the dark, we managed to get a breakfast and warmed ourselves up before setting off for the mountain Stob Coire Easain arriving at its summit just before 10am.

Though threatening clouds could be seen on surrounding mountains and visibility became poor for short periods, we were rewarded for the most part with some great views and even some warming sunshine on the summit. From there, we descended to a col then ascended the neighbouring peak of Stob A’ Choire Mheadhoin where there were no views to be had as the cloud had now caught up with us. A swift descent from here then a shortcut across moorland back to the approach track and onwards to the car.

All in all, a pretty hard day thanks to walking up the first hill in steep, soft snow with our heavy packs and by the end we were both pretty knackered but the views made up for it.
