4th February, 2007 – Muddy Waters (III), Aonach Mor

My first visit to Aonach Mor, where a lift up in the gondola and chairlift takes you a forty minute walk from the top of the climbs. A descent down ‘Easy Gully’ gives access to the bottom of the cliffs which all the routes lie on.

Our climb for the day was a buttress type route (Muddy Waters) right beside the descent gully and Andy was soon leading up to the half way point. On arriving beside him we discussed how it had been steeper than appearing from below before I went to lead the second pitch. My attempt was very short lived as I wasn’t too keen to continue almost from the start so some time was wasted swapping ends of the rope before Andy continued the climb finishing up on the plateau above shortly thereafter.
