12th April to 11th May, 2008 – A Four Week Jaunt Experiencing Some of Scotland’s North West Highlands and Islands

Climbing in Ardnamurchan

Andrew H. arrived the previous night for a day of climbing. We headed along the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, but not quite all the way, to an area of crags formed by the ring of a volcano’s crater. I needn’t have worried about the weather lasting till Andrew’s arrival, it was the best day yet with no cloud to be seen and no wind. To the sound of four mad hounds running here and there freely, we climbed till our toes couldn’t take any more. Where else can you dip your feet in a pool half way up a route? Just the remedy to get the last bit over with before getting back to comfy shoes.
