22nd August, 2009 – Paddle at North Berwick

My first paddle with Josh so unsure what we’d be able to do and so we took a sensible approach rather than heading out to the Bass Rock. A spring tide and wind direction (off-shore forecast) made us opt to head west from North Berwick to do an anti-clockwise round of the islands (Craigleith, Lamb and Fidra) stopping on Fridra for lunch and a paddle in to the caves there.

We had good bouncy swell on the way out and paddling was reasonably hard work but the flow reduced and the sea calmed whilst we ate so we didn’t get quite the free ride and surf session going back we expected.

Not too windy afterall and nice and sunny, another great paddle.
