16th of April, 2010 – Sunrise Paddle out to Inchmickery

A second sunrise paddle in a few weeks, the first was out to Bass Rock further out in the Forth but this time we opted for Inchmickery just north west of Edinburgh. Two of us launched from Silverknowes at 5:30am with darkness just giving way to dawn and headed out on quite a calm sea with very little wind.

Sunrise was made all the better for the effects of the volcanic dust in the sky with a reddening effect on the sun as it rose above Inchkeith Island a few miles east of us, shortly before our arrival on Inchmickery.

My second time paddling out to Inchmickery but my first time exploring the island and its ruins and it was quite an interesting place to wander about.
