2nd of October, 2010 – Hadrian’s Wall

An interesting walk in Northumberland along a stretch of Hadrian’s Wall. From Thirlwall Castle, we covered about 14 miles of the Hadrian’s Wall Path east to Brocolitia where the car had earlier been left and where we had picked up a bus, the AD122, to our start point.

Lots of interest along the way both in the wall itself and in the adjoining milecastles, towers and occasional forts, some in better shape than others with some of the original materials having been removed over time for the building of farm walls and other structures.

An undulating route with plenty of short, steep ascents to keep us warm on a cool autumnal day.
