27th of November, 2010 – Sea Kayaking around Onich, Kentallen and Ballachulish

What can be better than paddling out from and back to your accommodation for the night? A club social, and group paddle out from Onich over to Kentallen, down the coast a bit towards Appin before lunching and turning back to hug the coast all the way back with a much shorter crossing under the Ballachulish Bridge.

A glorious sunny day though cold and breezy with the relative height of the surrounding hills shown by the amount of snow covering their tops.

What began as a flat calm paddle south with a little wind behind us quickly changed to a much breezier and choppier return leg after our break. These harder conditions were short-lived, the wind died and the sea calmed again as we hugged the coast back to the hotel. Wildlife, not much but the most notable critters in evidence were the herons of which there were dozens all along our route.

A really nice area to paddle in with interest less in the coastline itself than in the surrounding hills above.
