22nd April, 2011 – Circumnavigation of Kerrera

A brilliant journey round the island which protects Oban Harbour, Kerrera, making best use of the tides and wind directions which conveniently worked together to our advantage.

Two of us paddled clockwise from Kerrera’s northern tip (Oban side) with a stop at Gylen Castle and one more at a bay on the west coast. The west coast feels particularly wild and remote and all along our paddle we saw a variety of rock types, evidence of Kerrera’s geological past.
