Sgor Gaibhre and Carn Dearg

A walk involving a train journey, albeit just eleven minutes at the end of our seven hour walk.

We set off from Rannoch Station and headed east for a couple of kilometers getting the tarmac stretch out of the way first before following the route north into the hills. First, up Sgor Gaibhre then after an hour on the ridge linking them, on to Carn Dearg.

A stunning day, much clearer than forecast and mostly warm except in the stronger spells of breeze. I got my first views of Loch Ericht not limited to glimpses through cloud and in every direction we could see all the hills near and far, some more easily identified than others.

We dropped down to Loch Ossian with the colours changing on the hills around us and just a final couple of kilometers on track before we were sat down at Corrour Station with a bottle of Ossian each, lovely!
